and 14 more rows in this plan

Every word above is copied from a plan built for a grandparent line by the free check. The check names the rule. The plan, 49 dollars, names all seventeen records, in the order to order them.
Where lines break Three generations

The middle generation is where files come back. A marriage record for the parent is a row in the plan, and it is the row most often left out.

Where each comes from: 23 is one entry per record type in the file that builds the plan; 17 is one ending per article of law in the file that runs the check; 13 and the date are the citation audit of 9 September 2026, which read every citation at its official publisher, the Gazzetta Ufficiale, the Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The rules themselves were read on 2 September 2026. We do not show a customer counter, because we do not yet have one that is true.

The reason the plan exists

How a file comes back

Each line on the left is a "what sends a file back" field, copied from the plan. Each line on the right is the row that carries it.

Searched one spelling of the name. The plan names every record to take the spellings from.
Ordered a bare certificate. The plan names the full act with the margin notes.
An informational copy of an American record. The plan says certified, and why.
A middle-generation marriage record nobody ordered. It is a row in the plan.
A bundle 95 percent complete: returned, and the appointment lost. The filing row lists what the bundle must contain.

Testing a second family line? Each additional line is 49 dollars, added to a kit you already hold. State fees are always shown separately. The consulate charges 600 euros, we are not part of that, and it is not refunded.
The open questions board

Three courts moved this law in 2026. Some of it is still moving.

The Constitutional Court upheld the new limits in April. The Supreme Court reversed the long-standing minor issue in July, reopening lines that had been treated as dead. Whether the 2025 rules may reach back to people born before them is now sitting with the EU Court of Justice.

We keep the unsettled points as a dated list, each with its status and what changes if it flips. The free check shows you the ones that touch your result.

Read the rules at their own publishers: Decree-Law 36 of 2025 as converted by Law 74 of 2025, in the Official Gazette; judgment 63 of 2026, at the Constitutional Court, deposited 30 April 2026; judgment 24045 of 2026, at the Court of Cassation, deposited 26 July 2026. All three checked 10 September 2026.

Pending, EU Court of Justice

Whether EU law bars the new rules from reaching back to people born before 2025. Referral 147 of 2026, deposited 23 July 2026. An answer is expected late 2027 or 2028. Status read 10 September 2026.

Ministry guidance outstanding

For some of the 2026 rulings no matching circular has been found yet, so some consulates may still apply the older restrictive guidance.

Moved twice in 2026

Whether the windows for minor children hold through future budget laws. In 2026 alone these rules moved twice in eight months.

Four more items, each dated, are on the board inside the Action Plan and the kit.
Who built this

I ordered one record from the wrong province. It came back correct and useless, and the file waited while I ordered it again. That is why the plan names the office before it names the record, and why row 4 exists. I am one person in Berlin, not a firm. I read the official sources, and I date every rule I publish.

The registered address and the full name of the trader are on the site notice page, as German law requires. Questions go to hello@usehomeport.com.

Questions people actually ask

Before you spend anything

What is the difference between the 49 and the 149?

The Action Plan, 49 dollars, is the list of records for one family line: which office, what it proves, what sends a file back, the order to work in, and the request letter for each office. The Self-Help Kit, 149 dollars, is that plan plus the nine modules that carry you through the application itself, the document self-check, and the apostille and translation guide, state by state. If you buy the plan first, it is credited in full toward the kit for 60 days.

What happens if a rule moves after I buy?

When a rule moves we republish the page, with the date of the change. That is the whole reason we publish the date beside every rule and keep the open questions board. In 2026 these rules moved twice in eight months, so this is not a hypothetical.

Is this legal advice?

No, and it is built so that it cannot become that. We publish rules with their sources and show your facts beside them. You draw the conclusion. Nobody here reviews your case, and only the Italian authorities decide.

Do I have to give an email address to use the check?

No email before your result. The check runs in your browser, and your answers are never sent to us. An email address is asked for only after the result, and only if you want the list of records sent to you.

What happens right after I pay?

You get an email with a link that opens your page. No account, no password, nothing to install. Keep the email: the link is your key. The consulate fee of 600 euros is separate from this, and it is not refunded.

What if the check says my line is cut?

Then you have paid nothing, and the check will have told you which routes remain and which are closed. If you bought a product anyway and it does not help you, the refund is one email away for thirty days.
